The GIS Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific assigned projects, ensuring consistency with CGS strategies, commitments, and goals and following GIS Best Practices.
The GIS Manager establishes and implements GIS activities and manages staff, ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet client expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Science, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Certification in GIS (such as GISP) or related certifications in geospatial technologies are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in GIS, geospatial analysis, or spatial data management, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Proven track record of managing GIS projects from inception to completion, with an emphasis on quality control, on-time delivery, and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Experience with Esri’s GIS platform.
- Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL) and enterprise GIS architecture.
- Advanced proficiency in GIS software for data collection, analysis, visualization, and cartography.
- Strong knowledge of spatial data structures, geodatabases, data management, and spatial analysis techniques.
- Experience integrating GIS with other enterprise systems (such as asset management, ERP, or CAD systems).
- Knowledge of programming languages relevant to GIS (Python, SQL, or JavaScript) for automating workflows and developing custom tools.
- Familiarity with GPS and remote sensing technologies, including the use of UAVs for data collection and processing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a GIS team, including mentoring junior staff, assigning tasks, and evaluating performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex geospatial data to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, planning, and operations departments.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Experience developing and managing budgets, timelines, and resource allocation for GIS projects.
- Ability to assess client needs, propose GIS-based solutions, and manage client relationships.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities in addressing complex spatial challenges.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing innovative GIS solutions to support decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
- Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement GIS-related best practices.
- Willingness to be on-site and work directly with team members and stakeholders.
- A valid driver’s license or ability to commute to the site location as required.
