The GIS Coordinator is responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing and maintaining Geographic Information System (GIS) based solutions to meet Enterprise County and departmental needs. This position manages the technical, administrative, and professional activities of the County GIS, including hardware, software, applications, data maintenance, training and resources. The work involves exercising considerable initiative and independent judgment, coordinating special projects and collaborating with other departments in performing assigned duties.
Essential Duties
Research, document, promote, and enforce industry standards and specifications.
Ensure compatibility and functionality of GIS systems with other County applications.
Maintain security of GIS resources in accordance with County policies and procedures.
Develop, installs, and maintain the GIS mapping and database systems.
Install, maintain and troubleshoot server and desktop software and hardware.
Create standard or custom database queries and reports.
Prioritize GIS workload to ensure the successful completion of projects and daily tasks.
Proactively monitor and make recommendations for change in GIS resources regarding equipment, applications, techniques and procedures.
Administer the GIS enterprise geodatabase and related end user applications and device.
Oversee and coordinate the procurement and management of GIS resources.
Assist in establishing GIS related policies and procedures.
Efficiently maximize the utilization of GIS in County departments and business operations in internal and external settings to accomplish the County goals and objectives.
Lead in the creation, preparation, and maintenance of geographic data and maps.
Establish quality assurance and quality control procedures for GIS resources.
Work closely with other governmental agencies in the coordination of joint ventures, cooperative efforts and the potential for resource sharing.
Performs all other related duties as required.
Position Requirements
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Science, Engineering, Planning, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field required; five years of experience in enterprise GIS mapping and database software; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must be a GISP (Certified Geographic Information System Professional) or be able to obtain the GISP Certification within one year of hire date.
Obtain ITIL Foundation Certification within 1 Year of employment.
Pass FBI criminal background fingerprint check and comply with CJIS standards.
