GIS Specialist

Position Description

Senior ecologist is seeking a part-time GIS Specialist to support environmental services conducted in Florida. This includes supporting mapping operations and data management for wetland delineations, listed species surveys, environmental permitting, and other natural resource projects. Company is located in Florida but applicant can work remotely from anywhere in the US.

Primary Duties

• Sourcing publicly available data to create cartographic products using ESRI ArcGIS Pro for stakeholders and agencies. Examples include creating parcel maps, land use maps, soil maps, and maps of listed species observations
• Creating field collection templates in ArcGIS Survey123 and Field Maps for senior ecologists. Examples include creating forms and mobile data collection maps for wetland delineations, listed species surveys, and vegetation plot monitoring
• Georeferencing site plans
• Processing collected field data and creating maps and exporting data to spreadsheets
• Assisting the senior ecologist with developing project bids
• Advising the senior ecologist on data management protocols and strategies

Desired Experience

• Proficient in ArcGIS Pro
• Proficient in ESRI mobile apps such as Field Maps and Survey123
• Understanding of parcel development, site plans, and flora and fauna of Florida
• Self-motivated in a remote environment
• Keen interest in learning mapping skills
