Full-time
Application Deadline: N/A
Engineering

Full/part-time, Vienna (Austria) or remote

We're looking for a curious and capable engineer to join our small, passionate team working at the intersection of Earth Observation and open-source software.

You’ll be a vital part of our Online Workspaces Solutions team, helping us implement data processing pipelines, optimize and build Argo workflows, and improve how we deliver satellite-based services to our internal and external customers. This role combines software engineering with infrastructure, and you'll work closely with our DevOps team members and our data people.

You’ll also help bridge the gap between internal/external users and the platform, supporting them in understanding technical limitations, proposing new features, or resolving issues.

#These challenges await you

  • Welcome to Space! We work with large volumes of satellite data and integrate them into internationally sought-after solutions, for example EOxHub workspaces(opens new window)
  • We develop high-quality software solutions to make satellite data available via standardized interfaces. The wide range of different data sources, satellite missions, and data and metadata formats pose a challenge here
  • Develop and maintain Argo workflows on Kubernetes clusters
  • Collaborate with developers and scientists to ensure our platform is reliable and flexible
  • Improve existing systems for scalability, observability, and maintainability
  • Support our team and selected external users by exploring issues, designing features, and building small tools or fixes as needed
  • Help shape and evolve our platform architecture with your ideas and experience

#What excites us about you

  • You have solid development skills and attention to code quality
  • You have experience with Kubernetes and containerized environments
  • You have hands-on experience designing or maintaining Argo Workflows or similar workflow engines
  • You are familiar with the Python programming language and know the usual software structures for writing and maintaining high-quality code
  • You are comfortable using Git and using CI/CD tools and working in unix-like environments
  • You are used to taking initiative and have a problem-solving mindset
  • You feel comfortable with English in everyday teamwork (German is not required)

Nice to have

  • Experience with geospatial or remote sensing data
  • Familiarity with cloud-native EO processing
  • Contributions to open-source

#What you can look forward to

  • Exciting challenges in a small, dynamic, and international team
  • Fringe benefits (monthly contribution to a private retirement fund, public transport ticket, restaurant- and supermarket vouchers, various social and group events like company retreats and family activities)
  • Flexible working conditions (working hours, working location)
  • An up-and-coming industry with an international community
  • Yearly salary starting from 45.000€ (Austria residents, depending on experience) or remote work contracts
