The City of Burlingame is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join our Public Works department as a GIS Coordinator.

Under the general direction from the Senior Management Analyst, the GIS Coordinator exercises functional supervision over assigned Public Works Corporation Yard GIS related projects and programs. The incumbent must work independently and exercise a great deal of judgment in the completion of confidential and complex administrative duties in support of Corporation Yard staff, Opengov Cartegraph asset management, GIS, other computer-based applications, assigned projects, and conducting problem solving research. The ideal candidate will assist with GIS data management and must have an understanding of how to edit and maintain spatial data in Esri geodatabases.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:  A combination of education and experience that has provided the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for a GIS Coordinator.  A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of three to five years of responsible experience developing and managing enterprise information systems and their databases. Use of mapping/GIS software in a multi-disciplinary environment where applications include engineering, planning, public works, public safety, finance, economics, libraries, environmental science, drafting, surveying or cartography.

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major course work in management information systems, GIS, computer science, mathematics, geography, urban planning, civil engineering, or a related field.

License/Registration:  Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver’s license.
