GIS ANALYST - PUBLIC WORKS

 

The purpose of this position is to respond to requests for maps, to perform related research and analysis using computer-based GIS tools. This is accomplished by updating the City's primary spatial datasets using plats, construction drawings, field notes, and other resources as required. Other duties include undertaking system maintenance and troubleshooting of GIS hardware and software and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This position will be integral in assisting Public Works staff with the maintenance and accuracy of the GIS data layers (water, sewer, wastewater). This position does not provide direction to other employees.

What We're Looking For
·        Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, geography, math, urban planning, or related GIS field. Practical work experience can be substituted for a formalized degree plan.
·        One year of increasingly progressive experience, including basic knowledge of the functionality of the ArcGIS suite of products. This knowledge should include updating data layers, publication of data layers, and a thorough understanding of the processes needed to maintain accuracy within these data layers.
·        Valid Texas Driver’s License.
·        Must be able to pass background through the FBI CJIS Service.
