Senior Transportation Planner

The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) is seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to join our Long-Range Transportation Planning (LRTP) team. This position is ideal for a highly motivated and strategic professional who can bring energy and insight to advancing the region’s transportation vision. The Senior Transportation Planner helps ensure that critical projects and initiatives progress with purpose – supported by strong GIS/data analysis, sound planning practices, and engaging communication. This position plays a key role in long-range planning efforts that keep the region’s transportation system prepared for the future. The ability to think critically, identify solutions, and recognize patterns in data will directly support decisions that improve mobility, resilience, and quality of life across Hampton Roads. The successful candidate should have 6-8 years of professional experience with progressive responsibility over projects and/or staff.
