Position Summary
The GIS Technician reports to the GIS Program Manager and is responsible for GIS analyses, maps, and products that play a crucial role in protecting, managing, and advocating for the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. The technician’s work will support multiple GIS-based projects across different departments within the organization. Most tasks will be completed using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online, but experience with the full ESRI suite and supporting software is desired. This role works with a core group of internal staff to update and maintain accurate geospatial data and create maps and other visual products. The GIS Technician will support critical GIS needs/projects related but not limited to ATC’s programmatic areas of the Visual Resource Inventory, Visitor Use Management, Overnight Site Planning and Management, External Boundary Corridor Monitoring, and Trail Facility data management.
