We are seeking a passionate and skilled individual with experience in geographic information systems (GIS) data, tools and techniques to support the compilation of a shoreline public access GIS database for the SF Bay. Under the general direction of the Senior Bay Development Design Analyst and GIS Specialist Lead, this position will perform basic research and data gathering of public access from BCDC permits, perform data entry and digitization of shoreline public access trails and areas, and support the publishing of the shoreline access data through an interactive web mapping application.
Essential Functions:
- Review existing public access data and agency user needs, to recommend public access data schema and structure;
- Seek input from regulatory and compliance staff on priority shoreline areas, data structure, and access needs;
- Research public access from BCDC permits, and digitize lines and polygons from mapped exhibits and site conditions, using ESRI ArcPRO software;
- Develop an interactive web-based Shoreline Public Access Guide using ArcGIS Online, including Experience Builder, StoryMaps);
- Support the development of communications and outreach materials for broad audiences, including BCDC staff, Commission, members of the public, partner agencies and organizations and other interested and affected parties;
- Participate in various BCDC staff programs, staff meetings and projects, or other collaborative efforts.

This is a Full -Time 12-Month Limited Term position with possibility of an extension to 24- months or becoming permanent.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to research and organize complex information. Experience working with GIS data, tools, and techniques, including basic data entry and editing, using ESRI ArcPRO and ArcGIS Online Experience Builder. The successful candidate will have some familiarity with principals of public access design, land use planning, and coastal policy. Strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and in a team environment, take initiative, and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with changing priorities are essential.
