Summary:

At geocgi we pride ourselves on not losing our focus. We started out and remain GIS experts (or geeks. . . depending on your perspective). Since 2006, we’ve evolved into a world-class and world-wide service provider of multiple disciplines. We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success. Geocgi is looking for a skilled DevSecOps / Platform Engineer to support our client, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Supreme Allied Command Transformation (SACT) onsite in Norfolk, Virginia. The candidate will design, deploy, and operate secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-native platforms, supporting containerized workloads, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code in a modern DevSecOps environment. This role will focus on enabling high-throughput, service-oriented systems while embedding security, reliability, and observability into the platform from day one. This position is an onsite opportunity with the primary location of performance in Norfolk, Virginia, USA with NATO SACT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy and operate containerized services using orchestration frameworks to ensure scalability and resilience.
  • Automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to create consistent, repeatable environments.
  • Deploy, manage, and monitor workloads across cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, OpenStack).
  • Implement Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and observability practices, including monitoring, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing.
  • Support high-throughput, service-oriented architectures with a focus on resilient and scalable deployments.
  • Deliver incremental capabilities in Agile and DevSecOps environments (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).
  • Design and manage secure networking and service mesh solutions (TLS, Istio, Linkerd, API gateways) for reliable service-to-service communication.
  • Apply zero-trust principles and compliance automation to enforce security policies and validate system compliance.
  • Manage identity, access, and secrets using modern, secure approaches (tokens, certificates, least-privilege access controls).

As an employee of geocgi, the DevSecOps / Platform Engineer will have access to a generous benefits package, in addition to a corporate culture and community of GIS geeks. Our benefits include but are not limited to:

  • Competitive salaries, commensurate with experience and leading Federal Contractors in the geospatial industry.
  • Opportunities for upward mobility in a dynamic fast paced environment within a small company.
  • Merit-based spot and end of year bonuses.
  • Safe Harbor 401(k) plan with immediate vesting.
  • Flexible work hours and PTO.
  • Complete Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for individuals.
  • Company paid training, certifications, and professional growth and development.

The following are requirements of the DevSecOps / Platform Engineer:

  • U.S. Citizen and Active U.S. Passport.
  • Active NATO or DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to be onsite M-F in Norfolk, Virginia.
  • 4 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, IT or related field; or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree; or 2 years of experience with a PhD.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and security validation.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, or Pulumi.
  • Experience deploying and securing workloads in hybrid and/or public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMware, OpenStack).
  • Experience implementing SRE and observability practices using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki, OpenTelemetry.
  • Experience building and operating scalable, resilient, high-throughput systems and service-oriented architectures.
  • Experience working in Agile/DevSecOps environments (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).
  • Experience designing and managing secure networking and service mesh technologies (TLS, Istio, Linkerd, API gateways).
  • Experience applying zero-trust principles and compliance automation (e.g., OPA, Kyverno, SBOM, CIS benchmarks).
  • Experience managing secrets and access policies using modern IAM solutions (Vault, AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, RBAC/ABAC).
  • English proficiency (written and spoken).
