We are a talented, hardworking group that share values and characteristics that drive client, professional, and personal success. Geocgi is looking for a Senior GIS Systems Engineer to support our client, onsite in Oakland, California. The candidate will support the design, deployment, and administration of enterprise GIS platforms within complex IT environments. This role focuses on implementing and optimizing ArcGIS Enterprise deployments, integrating GIS with enterprise infrastructure, and supporting advanced geospatial workflows. The Senior GIS Systems Engineer will work closely with technical teams and stakeholders to design scalable GIS architectures, troubleshoot system performance issues, and support enterprise deployments across cloud and on-premises environments. The role will also support geospatial workflows related to infrastructure and utility data management. This position is an opportunity with the primary location of performance onsite in Oakland, California.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and configure ArcGIS Enterprise and related GIS platforms across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Support enterprise geospatial architecture, including system integration with existing IT infrastructure.
  • Plan and execute migrations between ArcGIS environments, including upgrades and architecture changes.
  • Administer GIS infrastructure across Windows and/or Linux environments.
  • Troubleshoot performance, networking, storage, and security issues impacting GIS deployments.
  • Configure and maintain supporting platform components such as load balancers, web servers, and authentication systems.
  • Integrate GIS platforms with enterprise databases, cloud services, and data pipelines.
  • Support configuration of enterprise geodatabases and spatial data management workflows.
  • Work with technical teams to design scalable geospatial solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with users and technical stakeholders to design and implement GIS workflows and analytical capabilities.
  • Support geospatial solutions related to infrastructure and utility datasets where applicable.
  • Provide guidance on best practices for enterprise GIS operations and system optimization.

The following are requirements of the Senior GIS Systems Engineer:

  • U.S. Citizen and Active U.S. Passport.
  • 8+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or administering ArcGIS Enterprise or similar geospatial platforms.
  • Strong systems administration experience on Windows and/or Linux.
  • Experience with at least one scripting language such as Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or C#.
  • Familiarity with enterprise networking concepts (DNS, HTTPS, firewalls, load balancing, identity management).
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).

The following are preferred of the Senior GIS Systems Engineer:

  • GISP, CompTIA Security+, Esri Enterprise, AWS or Azure certifications
  • Master’s degree in GIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise ecosystem, including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Desktop/Pro
  • Familiarity with utility or infrastructure data models and workflows within enterprise GIS environments
  • Experience supporting cloud-based GIS systems (AWS, Azure, or similar)

The annual base salary range for this position is anticipated to be $120,000 $160,000 USD. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position.
